Maria Carnovale

Maria is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. Her work focuses on policies for economic development and sustainability. She obtained her doctorate in Public Policy from Duke University in 2019. She also holds a Master in Public Policy (Duke) and a Master in Economics of Innovation and Technology (Bocconi).

Her current research focuses on policy issues that arise when institutions have unequal power. It analyses the redistributive effects of common development policies and environmental standards when production is outsourced and when firms operate in oligopolistic markets. The purpose is to assess whether common policies actually aid their target beneficiaries.
