Power for All
Power for All is a global coalition of 200 private and public organizations campaigning to deliver universal energy access before 2030 through the power of decentralized, renewable electricity (DRE).
2 billion people—almost a third of humanity—are without access to reliable energy, and the majority of them live in rural areas with no established method of energy delivery. Compared to traditional approaches, renewable, distributed energy is less expensive, faster to implement, and creates a sustainable pathway to the energy needs of the developing world.
Power for All’s mission is to accelerate this market transformation by working with public and private sectors and civil society organizations to prioritize decentralized renewable energy development. We believe that access to energy is fundamental to human and economic development and modern, clean decentralized energy solutions are proven as the fastest and most cost effective approach to reach universal energy access.
International Institute for Sustainable Development’s Global Subsidies Initiative
Established in 2005 by the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), the Global Subsidies Initiative (GSI) is dedicated to analyzing subsidies and how they support or undermine efforts to achieve sustainable development. The GSI’s goal is to encourage individual governments to undertake unilateral reforms on subsidy policy where these would deliver clear economic, environmental and social benefits and to encourage resolute, ongoing and systematic action in international fora such as the G-20, UNFCCC and WTO. The GSI’s country program in India undertakes research and policy engagement on energy subsidies for fuel consumers, fuel producers and renewable energy, with the intention of contributing to the following policy objectives:

Sustainable Energy for All
Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) is a nonprofit organization working with leaders in government, the private sector and civil society to drive further, faster action toward achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 7, which calls for universal access to sustainable energy by 2030, and the Paris Climate Agreement, which calls for reducing greenhouse gas emissions to limit climate warming to below 2 degrees Celsius.
Former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon launched SEforALL in September 2011 as a global initiative that would mobilize action by these diverse actors in support of SDG7’s three core objectives:
- ensuring universal access to modern energy services
- doubling the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix
- doubling the global rate of improvement in energy efficiency
With a mandate that sent a clear signal about the central role of energy in ending poverty and halting precipitous changes in our global climate, SEforALL embarked on uncharted territory and rapidly generated momentum.
