Webinar: Effective policy responses to global crises: Historical lessons from energy shocks by Michaël Aklin

Countries regularly face difficult and yet unanticipated crises, such as the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. How can governments respond to them effectively? In this webinar, we will explore historical cases of energy shocks, from the 1973 oil crisis to the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster, to understand how government respond and when they are likely to succeed in mitigating the crisis. Drawing on these lessons, we discuss the long-term impacts of the coronavirus response and strategies for a more sustainable and resilient future.
