Faraz Usmani is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management at Cornell University. His research—at the intersection of energy, environment, and development—focuses on access to energy in low- and middle-income countries. In particular, he uses household-level surveys as well as large geospatial and administrative datasets to study what drives the effectiveness of electrification and clean-cooking interventions, and how these insights can be used to guide spatial targeting of future efforts.
Faraz holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Economics from Duke University, an M.A. in International and Development Economics from Yale University, and a B.A. in Economics from New York University. As an ISEP fellow, Faraz is currently working on enhancing access to clean-cooking solutions in India.
