Dr. Sanchit Saran Agarwal is an Electrical and Electronics engineering graduate. He has completed his M.Tech. and Ph.D. from the Department of Water Resources Development and Management, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, Roorkee (India). In his masters, his study mainly focused on hydropower and power systems. His doctorate is in the topic entitled, “Hydropower development under uncertainties and operational performance assessment.” In his Ph.D. work, Dr. Agarwal has developed qualitative methodologies for uncertainties-based initial cost assessment and time and cost overrun assessment using expert fuzzy-based multi-attribute decision-making techniques. Further, he has assessed the operational reliability and relative efficiency of hydropower plants. The study has used real hydropower projects in India.

His work is published in acclaimed journals such as Energy Strategy Reviews and Water and Energy International and conferences such as the International River Symposium. He is also an active reviewer for journals, namely, IEEE Industry Applications Society (IEEE), Renewable energy (Elsevier), and Energy and Environment (Sage journals).

As an ISEP fellow, Dr. Agarwal aims to contribute to topics concerning energy policy and its transition, especially the role of hydropower sector, with the main focus on India.
