Siddharth Sareen

Siddharth Sareen is an environmental social scientist at the University of Bergen in Norway. He focuses on the governance of energy transitions. He has worked on issues at various points of energy systems, including extraction and dispossession, the political economy of electricity distribution, supply-demand interface dynamics and intra-household energy use. He holds a PhD from the University of Copenhagen and has worked in seven countries on three continents.

His recent research addresses the multi-scalar governance of solar energy rollout in Portugal. Related interests include energy infrastructure transitions, such as smart electric meter rollouts in Europe, and urban energy systems. He has published over 20 articles in prominent journals, edited several special issues and a book with Palgrave titled ‘Enabling sustainable energy transitions: Practices of legitimation and accountable governance’.

At ISEP, Siddharth contributes expertise on accountable governance and an empirically grounded understanding of the drivers of multi-scalar changes in energy systems.
