ISEP Announces Student Research Scholarships

The Initiative for Sustainable Energy Policy (ISEP) has created three research positions for students concentrating in Energy, Resources and Environment (ERE) at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). Each position offers $2,500 in financial support and an opportunity to gain research experience as an ISEP research scholar.

One of the positions focuses on strategic communications and two are research assistantships. The positions will be awarded competitively based on applications and interviews with ISEP’s Founding Director, Professor Johannes Urpelainen. The first competition will open in August 2018 and be announced on the ISEP website and with an email to all ERE students.

“We are absolutely delighted to support ERE students with these opportunities. I joined ERE in July 2017 and have been very impressed with the skills, knowledge, and passion of our students,” says Professor Urpelainen. “The three ISEP positions are a clear win-win. ISEP gains access to exceptional talent and our students gain invaluable experience that can turbocharge their careers.”

Hosted at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), the Initiative for Sustainable Energy Policy (ISEP) uses social and behavioral science to design, test, and implement sustainable energy policies in emerging economies. ISEP identifies opportunities for policy reforms that allow emerging economies to achieve human development at minimal economic and environmental costs. The initiative pursues such opportunities both pro-actively, with continuous policy innovation and bold ideas, and by responding to policymakers’ demands and needs in sustained engagement and dialogue.
