Michaël Aklin

Michaël Aklin is Director of Energy Access at the Initiative for Sustainable Energy Policy (ISEP). He specializes in the design and implementation of surveys to identify the bottlenecks in energy access faced by households, firms, and other organizations. His interest lies in understanding how communities can grow in a sustainable manner.

Michaël is an Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Pittsburgh, where he also holds a courtesy appointment as Associate Professor of Public Policy. He received his Ph.D. from New York University, an M.A. from the University of Essex (UK), and a licence from the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva (Switzerland). Before obtaining his doctorate, he worked as a visiting scientist at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (Germany). His work has appeared in outlets such as the American Journal of Political Science, Nature Energy, Nature Sustainability, and Science Advances.
