The Initiative for Sustainable Energy Policy (ISEP) will conduct a study of urban energy efficiency and renewable energy in emerging economies with the DC Sustainable Energy Utility (DCSEU). The project explores the applicability of DCSEU’s innovative sustainable energy model in cities across the world, and identifies a potential site for a deep dive.

The collaboration will fall under the 2019-2020 practicum of the Energy, Resources and Environment (ERE) program at Johns Hopkins SAIS. In the practicum, a student team supported by a practicum manager and a faculty advisor conduct a large-scale study with a client over the academic year.

DCSEU helps District of Columbia residents, businesses, and institutions save energy and money through energy efficiency and renewable energy programs. Led by the Sustainable Energy Partnership and under contract to the Department of Energy & Environment (DOEE), the DCSEU is committed to environmental preservation, community engagement, and economic development.

Johns Hopkins SAIS is one of the world’s premiere institutions for graduate study in international relations and policy.
