New Survey Data from India on “Farmers’ Water Use, Energy Access, and Policy Preferences”
ISEP is excited to announce the availability of free, downloadable survey data of 2,010 farmers from three Indian states (Bihar, Gujarat, and Rajasthan). The data contains original information about farmers’ policy preferences, water use, energy access, political preferences, political attitudes, agricultural practices, and a host of other demographic covariates. The survey is available for download from Dataverse here. Meir Alkon of Princeton University and ISEP director Johannes Urpelainen designed and implemented the survey following focus groups in five Indian States. More information about what the survey can tell us about crucial questions of trust in government and subsidy reform can be found in the paper, “Trust in Government and Subsidy Reform: Evidence from a Survey of Indian Farmers“.
