Matt Harrington

Matt Harrington is a PhD Candidate in Sustainable Development at Columbia University, in the School of International and Public Affairs. His research interests focus on the use of machine learning to solve problems in environmental and development economics.

Matt currently focuses on issues of groundwater depletion and contamination in developing nations such as India and he is interested in energy and natural resources generally. Matt previously received a BA in Environmental Science and Economics from the University of Virginia. As an ISEP fellow, his research will focus on forecasting of the future groundwater demand and the implications water withdrawal will have on the energy sector in India.
