Vincent Gu is a student in the Dual BA Program between Columbia University and Sciences Po. His research interests include the role of transparency in environmental governance and the ways in which sustainable development affects international relations. For his undergraduate thesis, he analyzed the institutions surrounding China’s carbon markets, specifically looking at the availability and disclosure of emissions data and their implications for market effectiveness.

Vincent has an interdisciplinary academic background in international studies, economics, sustainability, and data-science methods. He focused on Euro-Asian politics at Sciences Po, and is currently studying Sustainable Development at Columbia with a concentration in Economics. He is interested in pursuing a PhD in environmental policy or a related field.

As an ISEP student fellow, Vincent is compiling information for ISEP’s global geospatial database on dams and is working on visualizing the database. He is currently using the database to study the socioeconomic implications of dam-construction.
